TRIGGER - Nuremberg Festival for Politics and Human Rights in Theatre and Performance

Next Festival Edition: February 19 to 22, 2025

TRIGGER is a new, political theater festival for Nuremberg. The focus is on human rights, their protection and the resulting demands for empowerment, diversity and democracy.

TRIGGER presents plays and performative productions from all over Germany and beyond and invites performing artists to face the public and social discourse in Nuremberg.

The festival center and venue is the Z-Bau Nuremberg. There we want to enter into an exchange with visitors and artists in political talks, audience discussions and panel discussions. We will discuss productions and ask ourselves what contribution theater must make to society in order to protect human rights.

The call for productions for the second festival edition runs until March 31, 2024.

TRIGGER has announced a competition for playwrights in german language.  An international jury will read the submitted plays and select one text, which will then been read for the first time by actors in front of an audience at the festival. The prize is endowed with 3000 euros.

TRIGGER is organized by the artists’ collective Theater Zwangsvorstellung e.V. in cooperation with the Z-Bau Haus für Gegenwartskultur.
